Makoto is the strongest and tallest of the five inner senshi. She wears her brown hair in a simple ponytail. Makoto is was kicked out of her last school for bullying kids and attends Juuban Junior High with Usagi and Ami. She doesn't wear the same uniform because she couldn't fit the ones they had. In the manga, she got in trouble for wearing the wrong uniform and for her unruly hair that was called a perm (but it wasn't). Makoto is an excellent cook and Usagi became friends with her at first because she loved Makoto's food. Unlike the rest of the senshi, she lives alone because her parents died in a plane crash when she was young.. Makoto expresses a desire for romance but never actually succeeds in finding a guy. In the anime, she did however meet up with Andrew, the video arcade clerk who reminded her of her old boyfriend. She lets him go when she realizes he has a girlfriend who incidently was harboring the blue rainbow crystal. Makoto defends her friends from anyone who tries to mess with them. As the seasons go on, Makoto tries less and less to find a suitable boyfriend.
